Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge

Happy Friday to all!  I can't believe it that our autumn break is almost coming to an end.  We spent a couple of days up north where my DH is working. 

I made a card for Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge with the Early Holiday Wishes 4 Kids.  Send A Smile 4 Kids is a charitable blog created for the purpose of collecting donated handmade cards to be distributed to children while they are inpatient at Children’s Hospitals. 

The background is distressed in various blues. I am using one of my fun HA Down the Chimney stamp which is paper pieced and coloured.  I also added a layer of glittered snow.  The sentiment is from MFT.

Inside

One of the many things which we did was made a walk in the woods and as we do not have those beautiful colours which I often see in photos from USA, I will only share some mushrooms photos.

Which one is your favourite?  My personal favourite would be the first mushroom.  Have a lovely weekend!

GG Creations - Giveaway

Good morning, peeps! So happy to see today's weather has improved so much. Sun is shinning, blue sky with little wind and it's getting cold over here at about 10 celcius degrees.

My blog friend, Greta is celebrating her 100th post and because of this she decided to have a giveaway.  

Here is my interpretation of her dress - autumn.  I decided to use the HA Maple Leaf which is stamped with distress inks aged mahogony and forest moss and sprayed with glimmer mist.  The sentiment is computer printed and I love it.  Do pop over at her blog to check out her generous giveaway.

Crackled Maple Leaf

Inspired by Heather Maria's card, which I really like so much, I wanted to try out on this crackle technique as well. 

I've distressed the background from Dew Drop Momento : Dandelion, Tangelo and from Color Box : Blush Rose, Royal Blue.  With these colours, I've also distressed the maple leaf from Hero Arts CQ228.

Thereafter, I covered the maple leaves with versamark followed by clear embossing powder and heat it with the heat gun.  This process is being repeated for about 5-6 times.  The leaves are left in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes.  Once it's time, I took out the leaves and "crack" the leaves.  Usually, the first "crack" does not gives much effect so I put them in the freezer again for another 5 mins and cracked them for the second time which gave a better result!

Finally, I used the sentiment from Hero Arts CL278 Great Flourish to finish the card.

Shimmery Maple Leaf

Inspired by Jennifer Mcguire's shimmery card of using Twinkling  H2O, I've decided to give it a try as I like her technique very much. 

As I do not have the Twinkling H2O products, I've used the distressing method for this card.  The colours for distressing are from Dew Drop Momento : Bamboo Leaves, Sweet Plum and Tangelo.  Thereafter, I used the music background from Hero Arts to stamp on the distressed background. 

With the 3 colours from Dew Drop, I stamped them on the maple leave and used a brush to lightly brush all the colours to give it an even result.  On the stamped leaf, I used the brush lightly brush over the leaf with some water to even out the colour further.

To give some shimmery effect, I applied Star Dust to give it a final touch!

Autumn Feeling

After seeing several masking projects, I have decided to give it a try.  I'm using the slanted tree stamp, Hero Arts for this project. 

As I do not have the Ink Blending Foam, I used facial cotton to create the background.  In the beginning, I was quite sceptical about it but was happy that it worked out well!  With the ink on the cotton, I make circular movements to create a nice blend with all the colours! 

Then I cut out the tree into 4 rectangular shapes and I outlined the tree with Star Dust to give a shinny look!  To give a different look, I decided to use orange and brown ribbons for the bow!
