CAS(E) #45 & PB Colour Challenge

Happy Sunday!  Today, I am using the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch  and the colour challenge from Penny Black.  Since this is an autumnal colour, I would like to enter this card into Penny Black and More.

                                  

The background is made by splattering different watercolours with a brush on a watercolour paper. Then, I stamped PB Lace Edged with vintage sepia and heat embossed in clear powder.  The edges of the panels are distressed and machine stitched and added some pearl accents too.

PB Colour Challenge

Happy Friday the 13th!  Hope you have a good day or will have a good day depending which part of the globe you are. 

I am still playing with the colour challenge over at Penny Black and decided to go for Day 1's challenge.  Here is the colour combo :

I am using PB Winter Berries for this card.  The bg is distressed with the negative die which I cut out from a piece of paper.  The branch is stamped with versafine vintage sepia, heat embossed and finally pearl accents are added randomly onto the branch.

Less Is More

Today's card is for Less Is More challenge which is all about "Rubber Stamp" and is sponsored by Penny Black.  I was inspired by the work of Heather T and decided to use PB Winter Berries stamp for the card - actually cards because I had fun doing it that I decided to make two!

Both cards are distressed, stamped with TH inks and sprayed with glimmer mists.  For the final layer, I heat embossed it in white. 

These cards also enter into A Blog Named Hero with the challenge "button".

Hi everyone,

I know that it has been a long time since I last posted on my blog.  I would like to thank all with the personal mails asking for my well being.  As I have mentioned here the reason for the long silence but never did I expect to loose my mojo longer than expected. In between, I have been trying to get my mojo back by trying to make cards and visiting all my favourite blogs but it somehow it did not help.

Anyway, I have good news to share that I have been offered a one-year part-time contract with the primary school which I have been working as a substitute.  School holiday is almost coming to an end over here and tomorrow is my first day of work as we need to work a week in advance before the children come back to school.

Trying with my first attempt, I thought I should go for something small and decided to make a bookmark, I am playing with distress inks which is going to enter into the  Lawnscaping Challenge.

Cards for Maddy

You may remember back in July of 2012, Simon Says Stamp introduced you to this beautiful and brave young girl, Maddy Justice.  Sadly, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment, followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie. 

Three months later,  Maddy seemed to be on the road to recovery!  This January,  she had relapsed, which unfortunately means she's going to have to go through this very physical and emotional pain again. You could read more about it here.

For this reason, I have decided to make use of the colour challenge from Paper Smooches Sparks which is bright and colourful to bring a smile on Maddy.

This is the first time that I layered the die cuts going "backwards" (if you know what I mean) which took me a while to figure out how to do it right.  I made a shot of how I did the arrangement at the end of this post.  This is also the first time that I am doing a shaker card by putting sequins inside.  The sentiment inside the shaker is "hugs"which I thought it would be appropriate for Maddy.

Lawnscaping Challenge #58

Today, I am not going to complain about weather as it is so beautiful.  Lots of sunshines with mild temperature - finally I could put on my sandals.  

Today's card is Clean and Simple at Lawnscaping Challenge.  I have seen so many chalkboard style cards lately and decided to give it a try.  Instead of using black cardstock, I went for a green cardstock which I had during my school time (arrg!  it sounded so long ago!). The sentiments are from different sets, heat embossed and wipe lightly with white ink over the green cardstock.

MFT Challenge #125

Happy Saturday to all.  After days of raining almost non-stop, it's dry at the moment and we are greeted with some happy sun!

I just got some new stamps and dies from MFT.  Using this week sketch from MFT, I am using the stamp set called Peaceful Wild Flowers and Vertical Frame.

The background is embossed and machine-stitched.  The Peaceful Wildflower is heat embossed in black and added some sequins on it.  The butterfly is die-cut in vellum.

PB Family Challenge

Weather has been bad for the last couple of days already - rain, rain and more rain! I hope you have a better weather as compared to us.

Here is my second card "for family challenge" at Penny Black.

I am using the new PB Hot Rod stamp.  The moment I saw it I knew I had to combine it with this old stamp Jet Setter.  Both images are stamped in versafine and heat embossed.  As for the acetate, I stamped HA Newspaper Background in stazon.

The car is adhered on the front side of the acetate and the girl is adhered on the inner acetate.  I also made a smaller outline of the car for the inner card so that a little message can be written on it.

PB Family Challenge

My laptop is driving me mad!  It has been crashing for the last couple of weeks or even months already and I am able to bare with it until last week!  It crashed several times a day!!! For example, I was working on this post since 4pm and I could not complete it until 4 hours later!!!  How frustrating!  Hope it will not crash on me at this moment again.  Better stop complaining and continue with my posting....

A quick card today for a family challenge over at Penny Black and using the colour challenge from Dynamic Duos.  I am choosing Regal Rose and Grey for this card and used PB Laced Edge which is heat embossed in silver.  Somehow, I associate silver to grey - I don't know why. 

Yesterday, I read from my blog friend, Greta - GG Creations that she embossed felt which I never knew that you could. So curious how it will look like I had to give this a try and I did it today.  Love the softness of it, thanks Greta for sharing with us!

The grey felt was ran thru 4 times over the CB so as to achieve the texture.  The sentiment is from Verve Stamp and also heat embossed in silver.  I am also entering this card into Stamping Sensations with the theme for this month "Embossing and Texture".

CASE Study #39

One more day and we will have another long weekend this week.  Woohoo!

Today, I am trying something new with a coffee filter to make a flower.  Have you tried it before?  Here is my inspiration card from CASE Study.

I used 2 strips of the border punch for the left hand side of the card.  On the another panel, a vellum is embossed and adhered to the base card.  

As for the flower, first I swiped wornlipstick and peeled paint ink pads on a plastic binder holder as I do not have one of those TH mat.  Then spray with lots of water and dipped the filter onto the surface until you have achieved the colour.  Once the filter is dry, die cut into 8 scallops, put a hole in the middle and add a pin to keep it secure.  Then crunch all the scallops pieces by pieces until you are happy with your flower.  The sentiment is embossed in gold.

As there are a number of texture and embossing involved, I am also entering this card into Stamping Sensations.

Hello Everyone! You might probably have heard about the big news that The Netherlands has a King now.  For 132 years long, the Netherlands was in the monarchy of 3 generations of queens and yesterday, the queen passed her throne to her son.

Every year, the dutch celebrates the queen's day on the 30 April but from next year onward it will be King's Day on the 27th April. Yes, all of us had to get use to the word "King".  My dear husband has been waiting for more than 40 years for this day as his birthday falls on the same day as the King!

Enough of the dutch royalty and back to card business.

My first stamp from MFT and can't wait to play with this month's challenge over at MFT with the theme "Scene Building".  My card was inspired by Cindy.
