SSS Flickr Challenge #20

Barb is organising her 20th challenge over at SSS Flickr Challenge with a summer theme.  I pulled out my SSS Frozen Treat dies for this card.  Cut five of them and coloured in copics, stamped the letters and clear heat embossed.  I also wanted to make a shaker card but because the dies has two different shapes, I could not do what I wanted to.  Therefore, I came up with a different idea.

Die cut the "You" on a white cardstock.  As this time, I die cut it on a bigger surface instead of making several die cuts to raise the sentiment, it is a little bit difficult unless I put dimensional dots all over the card. I don't really know how to explain but I hope you know what I mean....

I am popping this card into SSS Work It Wednesday, Simon Wednesday Challenge and The Daily Marker.

 I recycled one of the plastic I found in my craft paper bin.  Cut into size.

BIC #47

I was inspired by the colours this time at Be Inspired Challenge.

I had fun making this monster card with the The Alley Way Stamp : Monster Madness and Background Check.   The front panel is cut into two pieces so that a small piece of acetate can be added onto it.

Did some "mad" colouring inside out and added some googly eyes on them too.

PS Cool Shade Challenge 16-22 Sep

It's cool shade time at Paper Smooches Sparks. Yesterday, I was watching a tiny part of the show Godzilla and I thought I should put the image into this card. 

 The stamps are PS Cutesaurus and Metropolis.  I also added glossy accents on the dinos!  I am also linking this up to Seize the Birthday.

Instead of throwing away the negative part of the building, I thought why not use it for the inner card.

CAS-ology - Apple

Happy Sunday, folks!  

It's an apple day today over at CAS-ology, kraft at The Kraft Journal and back to school at CAS-ual Fridays.

I am using the old set from HA Four Apples for this card. Very simple and direct which does not require much explanation.  I added sequins on the kraft paper.

I wanted something extra on the card so I decided to make a bookmark and a message card for the inner card.

Cards for Maddy

You may remember back in July of 2012, Simon Says Stamp introduced you to this beautiful and brave young girl, Maddy Justice.  Sadly, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment, followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie. 

Three months later,  Maddy seemed to be on the road to recovery!  This January,  she had relapsed, which unfortunately means she's going to have to go through this very physical and emotional pain again. You could read more about it here.

For this reason, I have decided to make use of the colour challenge from Paper Smooches Sparks which is bright and colourful to bring a smile on Maddy.

This is the first time that I layered the die cuts going "backwards" (if you know what I mean) which took me a while to figure out how to do it right.  I made a shot of how I did the arrangement at the end of this post.  This is also the first time that I am doing a shaker card by putting sequins inside.  The sentiment inside the shaker is "hugs"which I thought it would be appropriate for Maddy.

Lawnscaping Challenge #58

Today, I am not going to complain about weather as it is so beautiful.  Lots of sunshines with mild temperature - finally I could put on my sandals.  

Today's card is Clean and Simple at Lawnscaping Challenge.  I have seen so many chalkboard style cards lately and decided to give it a try.  Instead of using black cardstock, I went for a green cardstock which I had during my school time (arrg!  it sounded so long ago!). The sentiments are from different sets, heat embossed and wipe lightly with white ink over the green cardstock.

It's cool challenge time over at Paper Smooches Sparks and this week's story is inspired by the colour story "Nautical".

When I read the word "Nautical", I had to think of boats.  Have you tried incorporating origami into your card?  It sure give you a 3D image.  I made an origami boat and a pin wheel to go with this card.  You can find the tutorial here.

First the pin wheel is stamped with sentiment from Cutesaurus and used a tooth pick as the pole. I thought it was fun to put a dino on the boat..  I also used the PS alphabet die cuts on boat.

It seems that we are still in the winter weather although we are going towards June already.

Happy Friday to all!  

Glorious weather over here today and I hope that you are having the same too!  The kids and I did some gardening as they had this week off from school because of the royalty celebration cum school break!

Today is sketch challenge over at MFT.  I am using the set from Party Time which is stamped, heat embossed and paperpieced.  The dress is stamped on a patterned paper and paperpieced again.  The panels are machine-stitched and a rig-rag is added onto the panels.  The flowers are die-cut from felt.

I always admire when someone make an effort to decorate the inner part of the card and with so much inspirations from the MFT team and Cat's Scrap, I will TRY to make an effort to do it from now on.  It gives me so much satisfaction to see a completed card.

New King and Queen

Hello Everyone! You might probably have heard about the big news that The Netherlands has a King now.  For 132 years long, the Netherlands was in the monarchy of 3 generations of queens and yesterday, the queen passed her throne to her son.

Every year, the dutch celebrates the queen's day on the 30 April but from next year onward it will be King's Day on the 27th April. Yes, all of us had to get use to the word "King".  My dear husband has been waiting for more than 40 years for this day as his birthday falls on the same day as the King!

My first stamp from MFT and can't wait to play with this month's challenge over at MFT with the theme "Scene Building".  My card was inspired by Cindy.

Glitters

Happy Tuesday folks!

Today's card is all about glitters from CAS-ual Fridays' challenge and an inspiration photo from Pinspired Challenge.

Just bought some glittered papers recently at a craft fair and today is the first time that I am using them.

Simple card by using the inspiration photo, I die-cut the clouds in different colours.  I also used the negative die-cut for the sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

Lawnscaping Challenge #54

Finally, it's Friday.... it's not that I work fulltime but I am so happy for the children and DH to have the weekend off.

Today's card is all about stitching.  I had so much fun making this card.  The background panel is stamped by using the Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals and the smaller panel is from The Alley Stamps Background Check.  Both panels are machined stitched.  5 banners are cut and faux stitched along the sides.  I love the koala which is colored in red (I don't feel like using the natural colour) and made another banner for the smaller panel which is actually from a party hats from the set Hats off You.

As for the inside, I made a pocket for a gift card and also for a short message on the little card.  I am also entering this card into the following challenge : Scrapbooker's Paradise, Penny Black and More

Texture Challenge - Lawnscaping #53

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a restful and crafty weekend!  Last week, I was mentioned that we had spring weather but since yesterday, winter returned again!!  It's so so cold with the sudden switch of weather.

Today's card is about texture.  For this card, I used felt, mesh which are the white and  brown (not too sure if I named them correctly. Please correct me if I am wrong).  This time I have chosen tags which have been diecut with these materials.   

Today's stamps are all from Lawn Fawn.  The butterflies and tulip are from Blissful Botanical, the adorable koala is from Critters Down Under and the sentiment is called Hello Friend.  I am using the colour challenge from The Play Date Cafe to make this card.
