Color Throwdown #383

I have a quick card to share with you today by using the colour challenge over at Color Throwdown.  Love the colour combo as it gives a spring look.

For this card, I used three different stamps from PTI, Reverse Confetti and Waltzing Mouse.  This card involves masking for the top and bottom part of the card.  Then I double scored the border before stamping the sentiment from Hero Arts.

I am also popping this card into Allsorts Challenge and STAMPlorations challenge with a twist of "yellow".

I did second generation stamping with the leaves as I didn't like too much white spots in between the space

We had very nice weather over here with blue sky but still very cold.  Weather is expected to be nice throughout the week!

Waltzing Mouse PJ Party June

I have not been joining Waltzing Mouse Pyjama Party for a long time and I thought today's theme was fun.  Do check out all the details over here.

I have chosen to use challenge #1 which is Can It/ Pickle It.  The base card is stamped with TH antique linen with HA Background Manuscript and lightly distressed.  Then, I used a patterned paper which is also lightly distressed.  For this card, I also used a special handmade paper which I got many years ago from a japanese friend and she told me that these papers are from Japan.  I've never used them as I treasured them too much to use them.  The paper has a very special texture and it is also lightly distressed in antique linen. Then, I machine-stitched around the edges.

I used the WM Jar set which is stamped onto a patterned paper and trimmed.  As I wanted to make a shaker card, I decided to trim the inner jar as well and added an acetate.  Tie the lid with twine.  Added a double lace and finished it off with double bow!

Waltzing Mouse Fanatics #16

I have not seen the sun for the last few days already and today, it is making it's appearance - YAY!

Today's card is using the sketch from Waltzing Mouse Fanatics with the colour challenge from Color Throwdown.  I am using the set WMS Large Doilies which is stamped in different colours.  Added twine and button on each image and the last one is stamped and glittered on the diecut itself.

WMS BedtimeStory & Color Throwdown #283

Today's card is by using the sketch from Waltzing Mouse with colour challenge from Color Throwdown and the theme of masking or stenciling from Less is More.

The banners are stamped with WMS Jar Filled set in two different colours.  Part of the background is masked with embossing paste and the other part is by scor-lined.

The circles and the sentiments are stamped with WMS Large Doilies.

Lovely colour challenge from Waltzing Mouse Fanatics. The rule stated that a minimum of 3 colours must be used so I decided to stick to this number.

I used WMS Large Doilies set for this card which has been stamped repeatedly in different purples and dotted the doilies with pearl pen.  This card also enters into Craft Stamper challenge.

Over at Waltzing Mouse Fanatics Challenge we are required to make a christmas card by none-christmas stamps.  I like this kind of challenge as it really stretch your ability to make use of your stamps.  I am also using the sketch from Waltzing Mouse Bedtime Story sketch for this card.

For this card, I used Large Doilies which are stamped in traditional colours.  The top panel is machine-stitched and the sentiment is from HA set.

WMS Pajama Party

I am so excited about today's pajama's party over at Waltzingmouse.  There are three challenges which you can join and I have chosen for  Art Deco-Black and White with POP!  

As I do not have any stamp of Art Deco, I decided to use the set from Big Berries-Strawberries and stamped in Midnight Black ink randomly. Love how the background stamping turned out and the edge is distressed.  As for the POP, I have chosen this beautiful glittered feather mask which I found at a cheap shop.

Thrilled but pissed....

Four months ago, I was so thrilled when I was informed by Northridge Publishing that my vintage card was selected to be published in the CREATE magazine.  After waiting for 6 months, I still have no news of my published card and still waiting in vain for my copy of magazine.  After some correspondence, it turned out that it was their mistake that I was not informed and on top of that they have gone digital!!! Should I be happy or sad???  I was really looking forward to receive the hard copy on my lap and flipping it but aiya... digi is also fine!

The stamps which I used for the card are from Waltzing Mouse, Hero Arts and Paper Smooches. Guess what? I wrote to HA but was told that they do not give incentive to digital publication!  If I was not honest, I would have just scanned it and not informing them that it was digital!  Sometimes, honesty does not pay off! If someone could enlightened my frustration, please tell me what's the difference between being printed in hardcopy of digital when their company name's are clearly printed on it?

I was frustrated as this is the second time that I am using HA products that my cards were published but somehow not awarded!!!  Grrrr....!

Now, I am waiting patiently from the other two companies and hopefully I have better news from them.  I just heard from PS that they are considering offering digital incentive?  What does that mean?

Maybe I should be contented with it and stop complaining....afterall it's my hobby and I should be enjoying with what I am doing.  Yes, positive thinking!  I think I am happier right now.

Waltzing Mouse Stamps Flower Show

Hello everyone,

Today's challenge over at Waltzing Mouse is to pick your favourite creation from the blogs of any of the ladies listed in the hop.  After hopping around, JJ Bolton's creation inspired me the most.  Here is her card.  Love the elegant look of the gold embossing and the corners on the dark brown cardstock.

I do not have any flower set from WMS so I decided to use the Large Doily set to CASE her card.  Instead of using gold cardstock on the corners, I decided to stamp and heat embossed them in gold.  I had difficulty capturing the gold look on the photo but believe me it's gold!  On JJ's card, a special template ( I think) is also used on the border of the second panel.  As I do not have one, I decided to use my machine-stitched method but without thread to achieve the look-alike look.

Here is a little update to yesterday's news. Thank to very much for all your concern and kind comments. 

In total there were more than 20 secondary schools in the city of Leiden which were closed yesterday due the the shooting thread.  The suspect who is an under age is being detained and the they police is still investigating the case.  

All schools have resumed today and polices are being stationed at all schools. I heard from Claire that all entrances/ exits were close except one main entrance which is open for all for safety reason.  

Waltzing Mouse Blog Party

I can't resist making a second card for the Waltzing Mouse Blog Party with the theme Spring Flowers.  I am using the colour challenge from The Dynamic Duos Challenge.

I am still using the Waltzing Mouse Large Doily set to make this card. At first, I was rather sceptical about the colour combo but to my surprise it turns out beautifully and gave a very refreshing look on the card.

Pretty direct card which involves some paperpiecing randomly.  Used some vellum diecut and felt as well to give an extra look for the card.

Waltzing Mouse Blog Party

there, today is the 17th of the month which means it's blog party time at Waltzing Mouse. This month's theme is Spring Flower.  This is the first time that I am participating with this blog party and I am looking forward to visit the rest of the participants' creations.

I wanted the card to be tall and skinny but my A4 card does not allow me to do that so I had to extend the second panel. The base card is punched on both sides with MS punch.  The second panel is stamped with the Waltzing Mouse Large Doily set in three different colours and paperpieced on the middle part.  Stickles are added on the buttons and added machine-stitched on the border. This time, instead of using a ribbon, I used a lace which give a more feminine look.

I also stamped the inside of the card.

CASing Brenda

Brenda of Floral Fantasies is celebrating her 4th bloggaversary and also towards 4,000 followers!  To help her celebrate these two occasions, she has planned a little competition which is to case any of her cards style, blog header and many others.  If you like anything to do with butterflies, flowers, fairies and creating sceneries, you will get plenty of inspirations from her as I am always amazed with her work.

There are so many cards that I love and have decided to narrow down to three.  Initially, I wanted to do the yellow/ black or the pink cards because they are my style but decided against it because it's too much in my comfort zone.

 

So, I have opted something different which is the shabby shic style.

The pink base card is distressed in worn lipstick and barn door.  The manuscript background is from HA  and the sentiment is from Tim Holtz which are stamped in soft granite and smokey gray respectively.  The butterflies are all from HA Antique Engraving which are stamped in worn lipstick to keep the in line with the background colours.

As for the skirt, I used Waltzing Mouse Large Doily which is white heat embossed on vellum twice so as to make a two-layer skirt. The mannequin is lightly stamped in soft granite with the manuscript background and lightly distressed in ice spruce so that it doesn't look too "bare".  As Brenda added a pink ribbon on the waist because she has a black skirt, I decided to use a white rig rag to wrap around the waist.  The final touch for the mannequin is given a pinky necklace.

Brenda has made her own flower which I can't, so I cheated by using my indispensable cuttlebug to help me with this flower which is alternated with pink felt and white paper which give a little more texture to the whole.  The branch is from HA Floral Stamp and Die Cut.

On the whole, I am very very happy with the result and I think I should do more of this kind of style. Thank you, Brenda for the great inspirational work which you always share with us.

A quick peek on the double layer skirt

Dynamic Duos #42

Happy Wednesday!  When I went to school on Monday,  after a 2 weeks break the kids were so happy to see me that I got hugs and kisses from them!  It gives such a nice feeling knowing that the children are happy to see me again.

Moving on to today's challenge at The Dynamic Duos Challenge and The Ribbon Girls, I made a gift box for  my colleague at school.  I stamped the doily from Waltzing Mouse in yellow twice on a white cardstock.  The white panel is embossed with a patchwork embossing folder.

A special sleeve is made for this box so that you don't need to re-tie the ribbon once it is opened so that receiver no need to fumble with tying the ribbon again.  All she needs to do is to slide the sleeve thru the box.  So I attached the card panel onto the sleeve instead onto the box itself.  As for the ribbon, I made a small little cut on the sleeve so that it was not necessary to go the full round.

I put in a few cards into the box.
