ABNH-One Layer

After days of raining, the sun finally shines and the temperature dropped to freezing point.

Another one layer card for the challenge at A Blog Named Hero.  I used the old set of HA Antique Engraving for this card.  First, I watercoloured the background with distress inks and stamped the butterflies once it was dry.  All three butterflies are also watercoloured in distress inks and I added some trails to give a lift-up. The sentiment is also from HA.

Can't resist giving some stickles too!

SSS Flickr Challenge #36

Hi folks, hope everything is well with you.

My first card after a long break and decided to go for a one-layer challenge over at SSS Flickr Challenge.  The background is painted in watercolour and once it's dried, I stamped the SSS One with Nature.  I added the sentiment from SSS Cups and Succulents in between the images as I thought it was rather empty.

OLC#19

It's autumn break over here and I am so happy to be able to enjoy this one week off.  I hope to be able to make several cards again this week before school begins.  

I bought this PB Glad Tidings set sometime ago and I love it because of the different fonts and stylish print but I find it rather difficult to use it.  I am determined to use it more often now.  

Today's card is one layer challenge with a twist of silver.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver and decorated the top with die cuts from Poppy Stamp Pine Bough.  Added a white twine and two silver bells and finished it off with a pop of reds. The border is die cut with spellbinder scalloped borders two.

I would like to pop this card into the following challenges : One Layer Christmas Card, All Sorts Challenge, Word Art Wednesday and Penny Black Saturday.

STAMPlorations - CASplorations April

It seems like a while ago that I made a card.  The school is having a week break and it's nice to be at home with the children without rushing in the morning.

Today's card is all about CASing one of the DTs at STAMPlorations and I have chosen Vicki Dutcher.  I was drawn by the technique which she used with background stenciling with the "open" stamp in black ink.

Here is my card by using the bricks which is stenciled in TH distress inks Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans. Then, I used my favourite stamp from SSS Scribble Flowers to stamp onto the stenciled background.  The colours which I used are colour challenge from Colour Throwdown and this is also a one-layer card which I would like to pop into One Layer Simplicity.  I can't really capture the colour but in real, the colour stands out more than shown here.  I am also putting this card into SSS Flickr Challenge, Craft Stamper, Seize the Birthday.

TKJ #221

Playing over at The Kraft Journal with the theme ribbon or/ and twine and I decided to go for both.  Stamped PB Etched Branch on the kraft and heat embossed.  Cut out a tag and used the same stamp which is heat embossed in white and distressed in TH Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers.

I decided to add the twine onto the black ribbon to give it a little more colour and did a double bow.  Popping this into LIM and Tag You're It challenges with the theme "tag" and Craft Stamper.

ABNH - One Layer Challenge

A quick one-layer card today for A Blog Named Hero, Colour Throwdown  and Simon Wednesday challenges.

The background is stamped with distress inks, spritz with water on acrylic block and stamped onto a watercolour paper.  The leftover of the inks are diluted with more water to create the splatters on the background.

Then, I used the old stamp from HA Wild Garden stamped and heat embossed and did a second generation stamping too.

It's King's Day today and it's also my DH's birthday.  As you may know, the colour orange is the national colour in The Netherlands.  Majority tend to wear orange today and this is the only legal day that children can set-up flea markets everywhere.

I tried to talk my children to take a family picture in "orange" but they are not into it so we ended up with just the both of us!

SSS Flickr #17

I was inspired by this IKEA fabric which I sew for my living room's cushions.

Using this inspiration, I took my Simon Says Stamp Scribble to create a one-layer card.  It's a simple and quick card to create and I really enjoyed making it especially using the colours from this week's colour challenge at SSS Flickr challenge.  The sentiment is from Altenew.

I am also popping this into Simon Wednesday Challenge - Clean and Simple and Allsorts Challenge.

"Take Your Pick" at the The Kraft Journal and I have opted for "Blue, Embossed and Bakers Twine" for my card.

This is a one-layer card.  Cut a piece of blue cardstock and die-cut the border with spellbinders Border One and adhered onto the kraft cardstock. The flower die cuts is from MFT, added a bow twine and top it off with a pearl.  The sentiment is from PTI which is heat embossed in white.

I wanted a third leave and decided to die-cut it in vellum to soften the kraft.

Flickr co-challenge SSS & Lawn Fawn

Usually, I would say "YAY! It's Friday" but as the week is ending soon which means school/ work will be starting in 3 days' time!

Aiyah! I am glad that I have a week off whereby I could catch-up with several things and also making cards.  First-up, have you heard of the flickr co-challenge with Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn - do check them out over here and here.  It's all about "Get Crafty with Kraft".  

Here is my one-layer card. The base kraft is stamped lightly with MFT Woodgrain and I used the half-die cutting technique with the oval scallop to create the opening.  The die cut is from SSS Small Hello which is adhered onto the scallops.  The butterfly and leaves are from Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanical.  I am using the colour challenge from Color Throwdown and this card will also go into The Kraft Journal.

Today, I have a one-layer card for the challenge in Less Is More by using the colours challenge from Colour Q.

I used the stencil from Dutch doobadoo burlap with the embossing paste.  The coloured part are from several colours from distress inks which are swiped on a acrylic block and sprayed with water.  Then I stamped the SU Best Blossoms sentiment,heat embossed and finished with doodle along the border.

Addicted to CAS #25

Thank you for all your concern on the last posting and I am glad that the storm is over now.

It has been a while since I last made a one layer CAS card and decided to give it a try at to Addicted to CAS challenge. 

A very simple card whereby distress inks are swiped on the block and water is sprayed onto the block.  Once the surface is dry, I stamped MFT Peaceful Flowers onto the surface and heat embossed in black.  I also doodled along the box and finished it off with ribbon and white twine and added a sentiment tag with it too.

I am also entering this card into the following challenge : CAS-ual Fridays, Word Art Wednesday, Simon Says Stamp, Addicted to Stamps

Hello

Hi everyone,

I know that it has been a long time since I last posted on my blog.  I would like to thank all with the personal mails asking for my well being.  As I have mentioned here the reason for the long silence but never did I expect to loose my mojo longer than expected. In between, I have been trying to get my mojo back by trying to make cards and visiting all my favourite blogs but it somehow it did not help.

Anyway, I have good news to share that I have been offered a one-year part-time contract with the primary school which I have been working as a substitute.  School holiday is almost coming to an end over here and tomorrow is my first day of work as we need to work a week in advance before the children come back to school.

Trying with my first attempt, I thought I should go for something small and decided to make a bookmark, I am playing with distress inks which is going to enter into the  Lawnscaping Challenge.

Birthday Cards for Annette

My blog sweet friend, Annette of My Clever Creations is having a double celebrations this month - her birthday and her 18th anniversary!  Because of this, she is holding a linky party.  I am also linking this to Simon Says Stamps Challenge.

I actually made three cards for her (wink! wink! Annette) Today, I will share with you two birthday cards and the third one will be on a different day.  Here is my first card.

I am using the sketch from Hero Arts to make this card.  Using the kraft as a base card and also I wanted it to be a one-layer card, I used HA Lauderdale Trees which is heat embossed.  The die cut of the flowers and leaf are from HA Floral Die Cut.  This time instead of stamping and cutting them, I decided to use only the die cut them onto the burlaps and velt. The sentiment is from HA It's Your Day which is also heat embossed.

On onto my second card, I wanted to use the same sketch but a different colour, I came up with this.  For this card, I used HA Large Fabric Design on the base card.

Dear Annette, I can't decide which one to give it to you, do you have a preference or shall I give you a surprise?

Lawnscaping Challenge #51

Hello everyone, hope you had a good weekend and getting ready for the rest of the week!

Valentine Day is in 3 days' time and I have a card using Lawn Fawn Critter Down Under to share with you today for  Lawnscaping Challenge.

I wanted something different and wonder if crocodiles ever do fall in love!  Why not?  On top of that, I am trying something new also by stamping the crocs on the washi tapes and heat embossed it.  Wah! la! It worked.  Then I did the reverse stamping which is more difficult to stick onto the washi tape but it worked although I had to use a marker to run thru the image. Then I came up with a hilarious idea that how I do differentiate a male and a female besides using colour scheme!

I have this set from The Alley Way Stamp Monsters Madness and decided to use only the mustache and added a twine for the female croc.  As for the banners, I also used the washi tapes to alternate the patterned and used the CB for the alphabets but as you can see, I used the boomerang from the set Critter Down Under as the alphabet "L".  This card also enters into Die Cut Divas and V Sweet Ideas

While typing this post, I had to giggle as it also eases my anger because something happened yesterday and I am still boiling inside!!!  I showed Claire and she had to giggle to!  If for any reason that you are not happy, I realised that sometimes making funny cards helps to ease my anger.  Hope this card will bring a smile on you today!

Good Friday to all!  Today's card is a one-layer card and is a little bit out of my comfort zone but I love the end result.  

For this card, I am using the stamp from Waltzing Mouse Large Doilies and Jars Filler which are stamped in four different colours and distressed with vintage photo.  Cut them into four panels and adhered to kraft which are again adhered to a pink panel which has been machined stitched.  The butterfly and flowers on the panels are vellum.

The cardstock is stamped with HA manuscript background and the edges are distressed with worn lipstick.  The sentiment is from PS which has been heat embossed and I finished the card with a piece of lace and a twine.

This card also enters into Simon Says Stamps Challenge.

Train Journey

Today is such a gloomy day hardly with any sunshine and so dark which it quite depressing but luckily the card making is able to keep me busy and away from the darkness which also brought me to make this colourful card for today.

For this challenge I used christmas stamp from HA Holiday Trees and Past Times to make a one-layer card.  First I distressed the background in different colours and let it dry.  The train is first stamped and then I masked the trees and heat embossed them in black. 

This scene has brought me back to my childhood when I had to travel home between Singapore to Malaysia during school holidays.  I always looked forward to this trip although it was a long and slow journey but knowing that there is someone over at the other end to fetch me made everything worth.

Washi Tapes

 

 

Here is another card for this month's challenge at Hero Arts.  Yesterday, I was doing some shopping and I stumbled upon some plain neon washi tapes - how perfect!  The moment I arrived home, I dropped the shopping and went stamping on the washi tapes. 

 

Using the sketch and CAS challenge, I stamped the washi tapes with HA Envie and the Die Cut Stamp Floral.  As for the buttons, I added a white cardstock under the washi tape to strenghten them and finished it off with stickles.  The sentiment is from HA Everyday Saying.  As this is a repetitive pattern, I am also entering it into Moxie Fab World and Young Crafters Unite.
