PTI MIM #247

I made this card for my father as his hearing is getting poorer.  Everytime, I call home, he could barely hear me and I had to shout at the top of my voice.  Three days ago, when I called him, I spent 5 minutes explaining that it was me and he still could not get me until my mum took over!

Therefore, I decided that I should go back to the old fashion way to communication by sending him a card.

At PTI MIM, Melissa showed us some fun with watercolouring.  For this card, I used PTI A Little Agryle which I used it for the background stamping.  The tree is from PTI Father Knows Best which is stamped on watercolour cardstock and heat embossed in white.  Then, I used TH distress inks to watercolour the image and did some sprinkling.  Lastly, I added some clear sequins.

Weather has been very nice the last few days and it's going to continue for the next days....

Yesterday, DH and I decided to go cycling to look for fields of tulips which we always do almost every year!  We cycled about 17.5km knowing what is ahead of us until we saw this.... and I thought, I still need to go home.....

We missed the season-my heart sank!  Then we cycled a little bit further to look around and found these.  These are nothing as compared to previous years but I was happy with them.

The fully bloomed tulips.

At the far end whereby you see the greens, they should have been colours!

A peep inside the orange tulip

I will be back to show you more of the tulips of different colours soon.  Hope you enjoyed the tulips and thanks for dropping by!

The Male Room #17

** EDITED : WINNER AT THE MALE ROOM **

Summer holiday is over now and the new school year has just started. I've started mine last week with setting up the classroom and this week is a home visit week! I hope the weather stays dry as we will be cycling to a few locations!

It's "newsprint" challenge over at The Male Room.  I stamped the HA Newspaper Print on a white cardstock and layered it with a re-cycled ribbed carton which is lightly stamped in TH Antique linen. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft which is heat embossed.

Have a good day!

ABNH Sketch

Today's weather has been rather humid and it has been forecasted that by the end of the week, the temperature will rise to 30 degrees celcius.  There are many people out there who loves this weather but this is definitely not for me.

Here is card which I made for ABNH sketch challenge.  I would like to pop this card into All Sorts challenge.

For this card, I used Hero Arts Past Time.  First, I distressed the base card with chipped sapphire, faded jeans and broken china.  Here is a new trick which I just learned that I spritzed my stamp with water and stamped directly onto the distressed area.  Oh!  I forgot to mention that the distressed area need to be of a darker colour otherwise it will not be visible.  Then, stamped another time but with chipped sapphire over the water print.

Here is the result after stamping with water.

Then stamped with the matching colour which for this case, is chipped sapphire.  I love how the double stamping turned out.

Then, I did some masking and repeated the same procedure.  Here is a close-up of the broken china - on the right side.  The middle inking did not turn out well so I had to do the cutting and pasting to cover up.

Thank you for dropping by.

MFT Summer School - Movement/ Flow

Have you been following the Summer School over at MFT?  There are several online classes and one of them that I thought could be challenging to make a card is called the "Movement/ Flow" lesson.  In this lesson, it will help us to understand the idea of incorporating Movement/ Flow in our designs. You could also check out the video by Susan Opel.

Here is my take on the Movement/ Flow.  I am using the ombre technique as I interprete it as movment/flow as well.  Basing on the sketch from CAS (E) this Sketch and colour challenge from ColourQ, I stamped the base card with MFT Woodplank Background by using the TH chiped sapphire, faded jeans and broken china.

The feathers are also from MFT which are cut onto a watercolour paper. Then I used mustard seed and chipped sapphire onto the acrylic block and spritzed it with water.  The feathers are dapped onto the acrylic block to achieve the result. Finally, I die cut the sentiment and added a glittered twine which I did a double knots.

I ran out of navy blue and used this instead for the layering and sentiment.

Thank you for dropping by!

SSS Flickr Challenge #20

Barb is organising her 20th challenge over at SSS Flickr Challenge with a summer theme.  I pulled out my SSS Frozen Treat dies for this card.  Cut five of them and coloured in copics, stamped the letters and clear heat embossed.  I also wanted to make a shaker card but because the dies has two different shapes, I could not do what I wanted to.  Therefore, I came up with a different idea.

Die cut the "You" on a white cardstock.  As this time, I die cut it on a bigger surface instead of making several die cuts to raise the sentiment, it is a little bit difficult unless I put dimensional dots all over the card. I don't really know how to explain but I hope you know what I mean....

I recycled one of the plastic I found in my craft paper bin.  Cut into size.

put in the sequins and stitched to close all corners

cellotaped to secure into the right place

ta-da!

Weather has been good over here! Thanks for dropping by!

TKJ #226

** edited : Top 3 at TKJ **

Hiya!  Here is a last minute card for The Kraft Journal by using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Today, I am using the stamp from Crafty Individuals Vintage Vehicle.  Before stamping the image,  the background is watercoloured in distress inks Faded Jeans and Antique Linen.

As for the base card, I mixed the embossing paste with TH Faded Jeans randomly as I didn't want it to be too blue on the kraft.  I also did some doodling along the edge to fill up the page!  The sentiment is heat embossed on a vellum!

I am also popping this into Pretty Pink Post blog hop, Simon Wednesday ChallengeMod Squad Challenge and CASology.

Thanks for taking your to drop by!

The Male Room #11

**EDITED :
DESIGNER'S PERSONAL FAVOURITE AT CARDS IN ENVY,
BEST OF WASHI AT AAA CARDS &  THE MALE ROOM**
*****************************************************************

Today, I have a masculine card to share by using the die cut from PTI Play Phrase #4 and Taylored Expressions Monsters.  Before, running thru the CB, I sticked the washi-tapes on the white cardstock.  I didn't feel like colouring today, but the little monster does stand out on the black background.  This is the biggest googly eyes that I have in my drawer! The kraft paper is dry embossed and the sentiment is heat embossed.

I am entering this card into the following challenges : The Male RoomMod Squad Challenge, The Kraft Journal, Cards in Envy, AAA Cards and The Seize the Birthday.

Thanks for taking your time to drop by.

Did you see the eclipse this morning?  I was standing in the backyard at 9.30am and 10.30am but could see nothing because it was so cloudy but it was kind of dark!  I hope are you able to see something.

Today, I have a special card to share with lots of distressing. I have never done such graphic distressing before and love how it turned out- great for a guy! I stumbled upon Joan's blog and got interested in her card.

I used a lot of sentiments from different brands such as : Crafy Individual
Kaisercraft, Stamp-It Australia, Verve Stamps and Alte New.  I am popping this card into Craft StamperAddicted to StampsSeize the Birthday and Stamping Sensations.

PTI 8th Anniversary

Here is another card to celebrate PTI 8th Anniversary and today's card is all about gold or silver.

As I am running out of masculine card, I thought this is the perfect reason to make a gold/ silver card with the birthday die-cut.

Sugar Pea Designs #19

Happy Friday!  I have another card to share today for Sugar Pea Designs.  As I don't have any Sugar Pea stamps, I used the set from Taylored Expressions Party Monsters-love those littles monsters.

When I was doing the background, I had to think of graffiti on the walls - I don't know why but somehow I was inspired by it.  The background is stamped with MFT Abstract Art in two different colours and the sentiment is also from TE Party Monsters set.  Thereafter, I embossed the bricks and love how it turned out.

Added two vellum banners and I can't resist making another shaker card and this time with a stamped sentiment on the background. I have been wanting to use this giant googly eye for a long time!

I am also popping this into Seize the Birthday challenge.

Today, my 14 years old daughter, Claire left for her one week student exchange in Madrid, Spain.  She will be staying with a spanish family who has a daughter of the same age who is a stranger to her and us as well.  The only time that the spanish family has contact with Claire was via whatsapp since the last few weeks so as to speak to get to know each other.  This is the first time that she is flying on her own but with her classmates.  It's going to be strange without her for the full week!

Have a good day!

Take It Make It Challenge Jan. 2015

There are some changes over at Craft Stamper that they are going to alternate their challenge themes each month.  This month's theme is "Take a Stamp" - sounds easy, right?

Today, I am going a little bit different than my usual style which occasionally I do like it as it gives me a kick!

The first panel is stamped in versafine with MFT Woodgrain.  The smaller panel is by using Craft Emotions Star stencil which is dabbed in TH distress inks: pickled rassberry, wild honey,  mustard seed and pickled feathers.  Then the panel is spritzed in pearl Tattered Angels and the sentiment is from Kaisercraft Curiosity which is stamped with TH vintage photo. I also stamped the sentiment on a white cardstock and cut out "Enjoy" and added glossy accent onto it.

It's freezing over here and am glad that there is still no snow as I find it scary to cycle with the snow on the roads.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good Friday!
