ABNH Feb

Glitters! Glitters!  Lots of glitters on today's card! I used glittered embossing paste on a forest stencil for this card and love how it turned out!

The flower is from HA Antique Flowers Engraving which I used the embossed resist technique...stamped and embossed the flowers with white embossing powder and then applied distress ink over it.  I decided to make it into a shaker card.

I am popping this into ABNHSimon Says Wednesday and CASology challenges.

a closer look on the glittered paste

We are going away on a short weekend before school resumes next week.  Once school starts, I will not be able to blog too much again.

Have a good day ahead!

Thursday Throwback #5

Weather has been hot and humid over here reaching a record of 38 degrees celcius in the Southern part of Holland. Luckily, I live close by the sea so the sea breeze does helps to cool things off.

I am using Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals for this card by using the colour challenge from Colour Throwdown.   I was inspired by Maureen Meritt of Wplus9 but did a twist by making it into a shaker card!  I am also popping this into Addicted to Stamps.

Somehow, my stamping on the acetate did not turn out so well but it was saved by the multi-colured sequins!

Thanks for dropping by!

Lawnscaping Challenge #101

Greetings from sunny Holland! The weather has been absolutely beautiful over here for the last few days and it feels like spring although the temperature is still chilly.  However, there is already sign of spring over here and here is the crocus from our garden.

I have a card to share with you today for Lawnscaping Challenge which I almost missed! Anyway, another shaker card which I will also be popping into Sugar Pea Designs  and things that fly being my balloons at Simon Wednesday challenges.

The stripe background is stamped in black from PTI Basic Background and the rectangle frame is from Lawn Fawn Large Rectangle Stitched.  I cut and coloured the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Dog Park which seems to be carried by the balloons while trying to retrieve the dog bone!

Thanks for dropping by and have a crafty day!

I am popping this into Simon Wednesday Challenge and Lia Stampz and Sugar Peas Design challenges.

We will be having a one-week spring break next week and the children are so looking forward to it.

Have a creative day!

Sugar Pea Designs #19

Happy Friday!  I have another card to share today for Sugar Pea Designs.  As I don't have any Sugar Pea stamps, I used the set from Taylored Expressions Party Monsters-love those littles monsters.

When I was doing the background, I had to think of graffiti on the walls - I don't know why but somehow I was inspired by it.  The background is stamped with MFT Abstract Art in two different colours and the sentiment is also from TE Party Monsters set.  Thereafter, I embossed the bricks and love how it turned out.

Added two vellum banners and I can't resist making another shaker card and this time with a stamped sentiment on the background. I have been wanting to use this giant googly eye for a long time!

I am also popping this into Seize the Birthday challenge.

Today, my 14 years old daughter, Claire left for her one week student exchange in Madrid, Spain.  She will be staying with a spanish family who has a daughter of the same age who is a stranger to her and us as well.  The only time that the spanish family has contact with Claire was via whatsapp since the last few weeks so as to speak to get to know each other.  This is the first time that she is flying on her own but with her classmates.  It's going to be strange without her for the full week!

Have a good day!

Kraft Journal #197

Tall and Skinny is the challenge over at The Kraft Journal and I am going for clean and simple design.  This card measures 20cm x 10cm and I decided to go natural woodgrain for the background which is inspired by the photo at Time Out Challenge.

As I didn't want the woodgrain to stand out too much, I stamped the MFT Woodgrain in Toffee Crunch.

The baubles are of 3 different sizes and two are stamped on the acetate and one on kraft cardstock just to give a different variation.  Added some sequins in the baubles to turn them into shakers!

I am entering this card into the following challenges : The Card ConceptThe Kraft JournalTime Out ChallengeHero Arts Holiday Challenge and Stamping Sensations.

SSS -Work It Wednesday

Today is the exciting match between Australian and Dutch. As the match is at 6pm, I suspected most of the dutch rushed home on time to follow the match so is my DH.  He is mumbling throughout match ....so noisy!  I wished I have a sound proof room at the moment!  Football is not my cup of tea so I ended up making cards or catching up with blogs.

Just found out that there is a special challenge over at Simon Says Stamp by using their exclusive stamps.

I am using the SSS Thinking of You.  As, I needed only one dot from the long strips I decided to cut out one dot so that I can stamped it in different colours by using the this photo inspiration from Curtain Call.

Can't resist adding the mini shaker heart-shaped and I also added glossy accent on the sentiment.

I am also entering this card into Simon Wednesday Challenge.

Thank for taking time to drop by.

AEI Heart U Challenge #9

I am going monochromatic today for this AEI Heart U Challenge.  Today's challenge is to create your own designer paper.

First, I drew the shape of a tree and used the negative cut.  I stamped the sentiment from Avery Fill in the Blank in the tree.  I also attached a die cut from a memory box tree but only used the tree trunk for the support.  Made a mini-shaker heart-shaped from Avery Fill-in the Icon set.

Cards for Maddy

PLEASE SEND A SMILE TO MADDY

You may remember back in July of 2012, Simon Says Stamp introduced you to this beautiful and brave young girl, Maddy Justice.  Sadly, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment, followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie.

Three months later,  Maddy seemed to be on the road to recovery!  This January,  she had relapsed, which unfortunately means she's going to have to go through this very physical and emotional pain again. You could read more about it here.

Please open your hearts & crafting supplies once again and make a card for Maddy and send them to this address:

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Maddy Justice-Patient
262 Danny Thomas Place
Attention Mail Stop 108
Memphis, TN 38105

For this reason, I have decided to make use of the colour challenge from Paper Smooches Sparks which is bright and colourful to bring a smile on Maddy.

This is the first time that I layered the die cuts going "backwards" (if you know what I mean) which took me a while to figure out how to do it right.  I made a shot of how I did the arrangement at the end of this post.  This is also the first time that I am doing a shaker card by putting sequins inside.  The sentiment inside the shaker is "hugs"which I thought it would be appropriate for Maddy.
