Craft Stamper Feb

It's such a beautiful day today with lots of sunshine despite the weather forecast that we were expecting rains and hails!

I was playing with the embossing folder and trying to implement HA Background newspaper print into my card as I wanted to enter this card into Craft Stamper challenge.  Finally, I came up with this idea.  First, I stamped the newspaper background onto cardstock and then run it thru the embossing folder. Then I applied different distress inks of blues onto the card and added some Wink of Stella glitter around the edge.  Lastly, heat embossed the sentiment from PB in gold onto a piece of vellum.

I am also entering this card into ABNHSimon Says Wednesday and CASology challenges.

So happy that I can make so many cards this week....

Craft Stamper Feb 2016

I am a ColourQ Coutiers!

************************************************
I am back!!  School is having a week break this week which give me sometime to go back into the blogging and making some cards again.

I am combining this card into two challenges which are at ColourQ by using black/ white with a spot of colour and at Craft Stamper which is all about "text".

This poppy might look familiar to some of you - it's from PB Divine set.  The original set comes with two poppies only and I added the third one to fill-up the space!

I thought, besides colouring onto this big space, I could also stamped some text onto it - I used HA Newspaper Background stamp.  I did some paper-pieced on this project.  The background splatters are from SU Grundge.  I decided to pop my colour on the leaves.

I added some glossy accents on the leaves to give it a little morning dew look.

Today, is the fifth day that I lost my voice.  The first three days was the worst as I could barely talked just because I had to work with the children.

As it was towards the end of the second term, we had a bake and sale at school.  I had to bake some cookies with the 4-5 years old children.  As you could imagined already, how could I work without talking to them so, I had to force myself with my whisper voice to give some instructions.  I tried to explain to them that I lost my voice - but they just stared at me and gave me a look "why are you whispering, Ms. Lai Yoke?"!  There was one boy who just whispered to me just because I whispered to them!  At times, it's fun to work with this little children as you don't know what to expect from them.

So much for the week and I hope my voice will be back soon!  Have a great Sunday!

I am again very honoured to be a Guest Designer at Penny Black and More and this time is for the mid-month inspiration.

The background is lightly distressed and I used a second generation stamping with HA Manuscript Background.  The snowflakes are from HA Snowflakes which is stamped in TH inks and sprayed with water.  The whole piece is sprayed with glimmer mist.  I love the new die cut from PB Creative Dies Wintertime.   Lastly, I added Wink of Stella on the sentiment.

Hi there,  I am so excited and happy when Brenda of Stamping Sensations invited me to be a guest designer for Penny Black and More.

The theme is "Anything Goes" and I have chose a floral card for this posting.  I wanted to experiment with silver embossing and coloured the beautiful PB Divine in TH distress inks.  Love softness of the coloured poppies with the silver linning.  The background splatters are inked TH Ice Spruce with SU Grunge set.

The sentiment is from Stamp It Australia Friendship which is also heat embossed in silver.

Love to hear your comments on the above card. Have a good day!

Stamping Sensations - Colours of Autumn

** TOP 3 at Stamping Sensations and
Picked as GD at PB & More ***
*****************************************************************
It seems like I am squeezing as many cards as I could make this week before the school begins next week again.

I feel like colouring today so I ended up stamping PB Divine onto a watercolour paper and started painting in TH distress inks.  The poppies are coloured in spiced marmalade, winter berries and aged mahagony and the leaves are coloured in iced spruce and evergreen bough.  The background is stamped randomly with SU Grundge.  Then, I doodled along the branches and sprayed some glimmer mist. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft Blue Bay.

I am popping this into the following challenges Stamping Sensations30 day coloring challenge by The Daily MarkerThe Mixed Media Challenge and Penny Black and More.

OLC#19

It's autumn break over here and I am so happy to be able to enjoy this one week off.  I hope to be able to make several cards again this week before school begins.

I bought this PB Glad Tidings set sometime ago and I love it because of the different fonts and stylish print but I find it rather difficult to use it.  I am determined to use it more often now.

Today's card is one layer challenge with a twist of silver.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver and decorated the top with die cuts from Poppy Stamp Pine Bough.  Added a white twine and two silver bells and finished it off with a pop of reds. The border is die cut with spellbinder scalloped borders two.

I would like to pop this card into the following challenges : One Layer Christmas CardAll Sorts ChallengeWord Art Wednesday and Penny Black Saturday.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

OLS #19

Hello everyone, we are back from our Scandinavian trip and had a wonderful time.

To start off with my first card after a long break, I chose this challenge over at One-Layer Simplicity to "Strip-Down" not literally but to use mask a strip down the front of your card and stamp away.  Here's my take.

I tore a strip of paper for the "hills" and "sun" and distressed the scene.  Once dry, I stamped PB Winter Berries in Faded Jeans and another time heat embossed in white to create the shadow look.  Lastly, I spritzed with glimmer mist.

I am still sorting out my photos and will post them once they are ready.  Thanks for dropping by and have a good day!

ABNH July

I can't resist playing with this wonderful photo inspiration from A Blog Named Hero before my trip.

I was inspired by all the colours.  For this card, I used the water mist technique on the acrylic block after applying several colours on it.  Love how the vibrant colours turned and I stamped PB Divine once the watercolour cardstock is dry.  Then, I dipped a thin brush in bleach and brushed over the flowers.

Slowly, the flowers turned into white - ta na!  Distressed all the edges and applied some black sequins.  The sentiment is from HA Everyday Saying which is heat embossed in white on the black cardstock. The mini butterfly is from HA Antique Engraving which I hardly used but somehow it seems appropriate here.

I am also entering this card into Craft Stamper and Penny Black Saturday challenges.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good summer holiday!

The Card Concept #38

The moment I saw the colour challenge at The Card Concept, I fell in love with it.  I just love the combination of yellow with grey and it also gives me the feeling of summer - light and airy (if you know what I mean).  I am going mixed media with this challenge!

Firstly, I stenciled the background very lightly with ice spruce randomly.  Then, I used PB Floral Delicate, coloured with distress pens and spritz with water and stamped onto the card. Then, I used a brush to lightly stamp over the image to give a more watercolour look.  Once dry, I added some glitters on the yellow flowers.  The sentiment is new which I just bought from Kaisercraft Blue Ray which is stamped in ice spruce as well.  The edges are distressed and I finished the card with grey satin ribbon.  I am also popping this into Happy Little StampersSimon Wednesday ChallengeSimon Monday ChallengeAAA Cards and The Daily Marker.

Thanks for taking your time to visit me and have a crafty day!

Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

**edited : TGIF Honourable Mention **

Paulina of Pretty Pink Posh is hosting a Watercolor Blog Hop from today till Monday, 8 June with lots of prizes and inspirations.

For my card, I painted  lightly with distress inks on the background.  Then
I used PB Delicate Floral, coloured with distress pens and spritz with water before stamping it onto the cardstock.  Then I took an old brush to lightly pound with the inks and water on the image. The background turned out to be too light and I decided to colour it once more to make it more intense.  The sentiment is from SU, stamped and heat embossed.

I am entering this card into Mod Squad Challenge and TGIF challenge.

Over at Kathy, The Daily Marker is hosting her second 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I like what Kathy said "The idea is to color something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. Just five minutes that’s it. Some days you will have more time and that’s even better. It’s just about adding more time to color and carve out a little time for something that makes you happy".

Thanks for dropping.

TKJ #221

Playing over at The Kraft Journal with the theme ribbon or/ and twine and I decided to go for both.  Stamped PB Etched Branch on the kraft and heat embossed.  Cut out a tag and used the same stamp which is heat embossed in white and distressed in TH Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers.

I decided to add the twine onto the black ribbon to give it a little more colour and did a double bow.  Popping this into LIM and Tag You're It challenges with the theme "tag" and Craft Stamper.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good day!

The Mixed Media Card #10

Have you heard of brusho?  It's a very cool medium which you don't really need to do much but giving you a great result.  I was inspired by the talented Brenda, Floral Fantasies from this card.  It was a quick card for her to do but it took me two attempts to create the background that I was finally happy.

Once the background was created, I stamped the PB Delicate Floral in black and heat embossed in clear which was not necessary at all. Then, using distress inks and water, I coloured in the flowers.  The ribbon die cut is from Marianne Design.

I am popping this card into the following challenges : Curtain Call and The Mixed Media Challenge.

A month ago, we replaced our fireplace and it's almost complete now but I would like to share it with you.  Here is before.

During the process....

End result.  We changed from traditional woods burning to gas as we felt that it was safer and easier to maintain. T

The next project will be the replacing the flooring.  Can't decide between wooden floor and tiles.

Have a great Saturday!
